Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)

A thoughtful approach to reshaping the nose with balance, structure and longevity in mind

When your nose feels out of sync with the rest of your face

Your nose sits at the center of your face. This means that even small changes in its shape, proportion or alignment can have a dramatically positive effect on how you look and how you feel about your appearance.

In the mirror, some women see a profile that feels too prominent or unbalanced. For others, it may involve asymmetry, tip shape or breathing issues that have been present for years. Whatever the concern, rhinoplasty is rarely about perfection. It is about alignment: bringing the nose into better harmony with the rest of the face.

Rhinoplasty can create meaningful change. When performed by an expert facial plastic surgeon, it enhances the face’s balance without drawing attention to the surgery itself.

In my practice, rhinoplasty is planned with both immediate results and long-term stability in mind.

Who this procedure is (and isn’t) right for

Rhinoplasty may be an excellent option for women who:

  • Feel their nose draws attention away from other facial features.

  • Are bothered by asymmetry, a hump, tip shape or nasal width.

  • Have functional concerns such as breathing difficulty.

  • Want a result that looks intentional, balanced and appropriate for their face.

Just as important, rhinoplasty is not the right solution for everyone. This procedure may not be appropriate if:

  • Expectations are not aligned with what surgery can realistically achieve.

  • Facial balance would be better addressed through another procedure or none at all.

  • Healing capacity, anatomy or timing make surgery a poor fit.

  • Surgery is being pursued to solve concerns unrelated to facial structure or anatomy.

Part of my role is helping patients determine whether rhinoplasty truly serves their goals and guiding them honestly when it does not.

Dr. Janet Chao Pearl’s approach to rhinoplasty surgery

Rhinoplasty is one of the most technically demanding procedures in facial plastic surgery. Small decisions about structure, support and tissue handling can have a lasting impact on both appearance and function.

My approach prioritizes:

  • Structural integrity, ensuring the nose remains stable and functional over time.

  • Facial balance, so the result complements the entire face rather than standing alone.

  • Precision, with careful attention to proportion, symmetry and detail.

  • Healing, using techniques that support predictable recovery and durable outcomes.

Depending on anatomy and goals, this may involve reshaping cartilage, adjusting bone structure, refining the nasal tip or addressing breathing issues at the same time. Every plan is individualized. There is no single “look” or formula. My aim is to shape a nose that feels right for the face it belongs to.

What to expect from Dr. Chao Pearl

Timeless Faces is a boutique, concierge-style facial plastic surgery practice designed to offer a highly personal and continuous experience of care. This structure allows me to remain intimately involved at every stage of the process and to work thoughtfully with patients for whom surgery is truly the right choice.

From consultation through recovery, you work directly with me as your surgeon. There is no rotating team of doctors, no army of assistants, no handoffs.

The process typically includes:

  • A detailed consultation focused on anatomy, goals and candidacy.

  • A clear discussion of what surgery can (and cannot) accomplish.

  • Thoughtful planning based on how your eyes will age, not just how they look today.

If surgery is the right step, the procedure itself is performed with meticulous attention to detail and efficiency. After surgery, I remain closely involved in your care, monitoring healing and addressing questions as they arise.

Before and after results

Before-and-after images can be helpful, but they only tell part of the story. What matters just as much is how the nose functions, how it heals and how the results hold up over time.

These images reflect outcomes in individuals who wanted change that felt intentional, balanced and aligned with their features.

This is beauty, designed to last.

Recovery and healing

Recovery after rhinoplasty varies depending on the scope of surgery and individual healing patterns.

While experiences differ, many patients find:

  • Initial swelling and bruising improves steadily over the first two weeks.

  • Nasal splints or supports are temporary.

  • Breathing improves as swelling subsides.

  • Results continue to refine over several months.

Because rhinoplasty involves both surgical form and function, patience is part of the process. The final result is revealed gradually as swelling resolves and tissues settle.
